Albany Leadership is Expanding: Introducing the first 6th Grade Class this Fall.
Albany Leadership is very excited to announce that the institution has been approved by the Charter School Institute to open the 6th grade starting in Fall 2021! Albany Leadership is very eager to expand our school community.
Albany Leadership is looking to close the education gap in which it receives students in 9th grade. By having the opportunity for students to attend Albany Leadership at an earlier grade level, Albany Leadership is confident that it will be able to have even more young women prepared for college or the career of their choosing by the time they graduate from Albany Leadership Charter High School for Girls. We see the need to offer an all-girls charter middle school in the Capital Region as there is currently a break in the continuum of free all-girls education. Albany Leadership Principal, Carina Cook will be working in partnership with Principal, Kristina Ford of Brighter Choice Charter School for Girls to discuss further planning, programming, and logistics. Albany Leadership is excited to offer the continuum that will be provided for grades 6–12 at Albany Leadership, and K-12 in partnership with Brighter Choice Charter School for Girls.
The first class of 6th-grade students at Albany Leadership will open with 50 seats for the 2021-2022 school year. Albany Leadership will then add a 7th grade for the 2022-2023 school year and have a complete 6-12th grade continuum for the 2023-2024 school year. Albany Leadership will begin recruiting for the 6th grade immediately. For more information on how to apply, call the main office at 518-694-5300 or visit the website at www.albanyleadershiphigh.org and click “Apply”.
Albany Leadership’s focus will always remain the same- to ensure that young women in the Capital Region receive the skills necessary to succeed in the college or career of their choice. Creating a 6-12 grade continuum will support young girls and women in accomplishing this goal equitably.
